Started From the Bottom Now He’s Here.

As drakes’ song stated “started from the bottom now we here” this song really seems like an ideal life anthem. Everyone has dreamt about their futures, either they want to be a doctor, a lawyer, an actress and everything else, but to make that dream come true is the challenge. Lets take an example of a diplomat, who travels the world accommodated, gets to be in one country in the morning and be at another at dinnertime. Knowing this, its ok to assume that it’s not easy to be a diploma. Not many people know that the journey to become Indonesia’s ambassador in any embassy in the world is difficult and takes a lot of your time and money. This was one of the issues of Mr. Agus Sriyono’s journey into becoming the Indonesian Ambassador, being brought up in a small city of Magelang and having teachers as parents. This father of three children graduated in Univeristas Gadjah Mada, Yogyakarta and now he works as the deputy of POLHUKAM with dignity and pride.

Mr. Agus was born and raised in Magelang, Central Java, Indonesia in 1957. He never looked at how much he gets paid, as long as he gets to travel and enjoy what God has to offer, he’s happy. This was why he wants to be a diplomat in elementary school, and that is to simply travel the world. But all the luxury he gets today didn’t come without sweat and tears. He really implemented drake’s lyrics, he really did start from the bottom and now he’s here. As stated earlier, his parents were both teachers where his mother was an elementary teacher and his father was the schools principle. He would always ride at the back of his dad’s bicycle to get to school and read books whilst waiting. With his economical problem, Agus was driven more to the limit to study hard at school and make a better living for himself and also his family for the future.

Throughout his school life from elementary to high school he has always been chosen to be the class chairperson or class representative. This simply tells us how Agus has always been to be viewed as a leader to be trusted to have a rank like so. He has always been a Catholic and he never fails to pray about his dreams in being a diplomat somewhere in the future and his faith in God helped him through all the rough childhood that he didn’t want to mention. As he grew older, he tried to take the diplomats exam for the first time in 1981 but he failed but that didn’t stop him, he tried it again the year after but again he didn’t manage to get in. Thankfully, he was brought up in a family where his parents taught him to be tough and when things didn’t go his way then trust in God and try again. So he did for the third time, he applied and this time he got in. This was in the year 1983 where he was still working as Public Relations in Prasetya Mulya. For him, being a diplomat was his life calling, he feels that being able to have relations with the international people is a great job to have.

Every job has its challenges and sacrifices, when Agus started his studies into being a diplomat; he was still working as a public relation person at Prasmul where he rode his motorcycle from Bekasi. Whenever he has free time, he uses it to read more books to get more and more knowledge about the world, this is somewhat his only and favorable hobby. He doesn’t want to be left behind on what’s happening in the world or what happened in the past.

He has been a diplomat for 31 years now, even if he is now working as the deputy in POLHUKAM he is still working at an international relation type division. This man who has been known as an honest leader, is well loved by people around the embassy and there is no slowing down for this Indonesian diplomat.
