JAKARTA – A drug transaction worth Rp 39 billion (US$2.84 million) between a two suspects was intercepted by the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport Police on the 10th and 11th of November.

Soekarno-Hatta Police anti-narcotics unit chief Adj. Comr. Martua Raja Silitonga affirmed on Tuesday that the police had arrested both courier and dealer identified as NR (36) and SD (34) for further investigation.

According to Soekarno-Hatta Police chief Sr. Adj. Comr. Roycke Langie, a total of 1,012 grams of methamphetamine, 2,944 grams of ketamine, 61,251 ecstasy pills and 4,196 strips of erimin-5 or Happy Five were confiscated from the suspects' houses in West Jakarta.

Roycke explained that they were tipped off about the drug deal supposedly held at the parking area of terminal IA Soekarno-Hatta Airport, then switched to Warung Steak in Grogol, West Jakarta.

NR was arrested on location with 50 ecstasy pills in possession, while SD was ambushed the next day at a gas station around Jembatan Lima with 300 ecstasy pills hidden inside baby-milk cartons. The police are still looking for the alleged middleman, SM. If found guilty, they will be penalized with capital punishment as written in Article 113 of the 2009 Narcotics Law.

The two suspects had admittedly been collecting the drugs for three months from suppliers in China and Malaysia in preparation for this New Year's Eve celebrations.
